Training

You can build your skills and gain valuable experience through free training opportunities. Some trainings can also help you increase your pay through certification programs.

  • Carewell SEIU 503 Training provides Homecare Workers, Personal Support Workers and Personal Care Attendants with high-quality training to help you deliver safe and impactful care.
  • Oregon Home Care Commission (OHCC) offers a variety of in-person and online training courses to help Homecare Workers, Personal Support Workers and Personal Care Attendants develop essential skills. OHCC training covers topics such as personal care, mobility assistance, behavioral support and safety procedures. The commission also provides CPR and first aid training at no cost for eligible workers.
  • Elevate Newsletter is a bi-monthly resource for Homecare Workers, Personal Support Workers and Personal Care Attendants. It provides course descriptions, upcoming training dates, locations and times. “Elevate” is available in English, Spanish and Russian, and is a key resource for staying updated on new training opportunities and skill-building programs.

Certifications

If you’re ready to take your home care career to the next level, there are many ways to build your skills and increase your pay by earning certifications. The Oregon Home Care Commission (OHCC) offers several certification programs for homecare workers, personal support workers and personal care attendants who want to grow their expertise and qualify for higher pay rates.

OHCC Certifications
Workers who complete certification programs gain advanced skills and may become eligible for higher wages when working with consumers who require specialized support. Certifications cover a range of specialized skills, such as professional development, enhanced medical and behavioral support and community health work.
